Located on the 10th floor of Block 7A, Tajmahal Road, Ring Road, Mohammadpur, Dhaka 1207, this 1,800 sq. ft. apartment now stands as a stunning example of what thoughtful, modern interior design can achieve.

Japan Garden City is one of Mohammadpur’s most prestigious residential addresses, known for its well-planned layouts and urban living standards. When Md Shamim Chowdhury approached Geometric Architect & Interiors, his vision was clear — a clean, contemporary home that balanced elegance with everyday functionality. We were excited to bring that vision to life.

The Design Brief: Modern, Functional, and Personal

Before picking up a single sample board or drawing a single line, our team sat down with the client to understand his lifestyle, preferences, and aspirations for the space. The goals were:

• A king-size modern living room that impresses guests and provides daily comfort
• Two well-designed bedrooms that feel restful and personal
• A functional, stylish kitchen suited for a modern household
• A consistent, modern design language across all spaces
• Smart use of an 1,800 sq. ft. floor plan to make every corner count

King-Size Modern Living Room

The centerpiece of this project is undoubtedly the king-size modern living room. With generous floor space and a 10th-floor elevation offering natural light and city views, we knew we had a canvas worth working with carefully.

We chose a clean, neutral base palette — warm whites and soft greys — to give the room a sense of openness and calm. A feature wall with contemporary paneling anchors the main seating area, while a sleek TV cabinet unit with integrated storage keeps the space organized and clutter-free.

The false ceiling design adds layers of dimension without overwhelming the room — combining recessed lighting and concealed LED strips to create a warm, inviting ambiance at any time of day or night. Furnishings were selected to reflect a modern aesthetic: low-profile sofas, a statement center table, and carefully chosen decorative accents that feel curated, not overcrowded.

Every design decision in the living room was made to serve both entertaining guests and relaxing as a family — a balance that defines true modern living.

Bedroom Interior Design — Comfort Meets Contemporary Style

Both bedrooms in this project were designed with a focus on restfulness, personal expression, and smart space utilization.

Master Bedroom: The master bedroom features a custom-designed bed back wall that serves as the room’s visual anchor. Warm lighting, a built-in wardrobe with mirror-finished shutters, and a dedicated dressing unit make this room feel like a private retreat. The color palette is soft and sophisticated — designed to promote relaxation and a sense of luxury without excess.

Second Bedroom: The second bedroom follows a similarly refined approach, with thoughtful storage solutions, a study unit, and a ceiling design that complements the overall theme of the apartment. Whether used as a guest room or a family member’s personal space, it offers the same quality of comfort and finish as the rest of the home.

Modern Kitchen Design — Style That Works

The kitchen in this project was designed to be as hardworking as it is beautiful. In a modern Dhaka home, the kitchen must handle daily cooking demands while also contributing to the visual quality of the apartment. We delivered on both counts.

Custom cabinetry with clean handle-less shutters maximizes storage while maintaining a minimalist look. The countertop, backsplash, and fittings were selected to work harmoniously together, creating a kitchen that feels intentional from every angle. Adequate lighting — both task lighting above the counter and ambient lighting for the overall space — ensures the kitchen is safe, practical, and pleasant to work in.
